1. Peculiar Tartan: A Poem

I.

Stewart Of Atholl Tartan

like a prayer shawl

swaddling our young dreams

in our music, our love

that sound, distant melody

when we sleep soundly

from far away, we hear

'give it away' echoing...

tartan fibers interwoven together

threads of dreams, lives

bonding all of us

our love together eternally

II.

we get lost with time fleeting

but when we follow Tartan lines

like a compass needle pointing

we can find our way home

this was more than music, marching

this thing we experienced, and remember

this force that moved within us all

this memory that transcends our being

our children ask, ‘what was this thing?’

we can only give them a glimpse

at what this really was to us

'a dream, a vision, a way of life.'
